Over half of the remaining 700 mountain gorillas in the world are found in Uganda, mostly residing in the famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.  Kibale Forest hosts over 1000 chimpanzees, 80 of which have been habituated to tourists.  The Kazinga Channel, that separates Lake George from Lake Edward, is said to have the largest concentration of hippo in Africa.  Other animals found in Uganda are several species of monkeys, including the rare golden monkey, blue monkey, several types of colobus, baboons, as well as tree-climbing lion, elephant, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, warthog, leopard, civet, hyena, crocodile, the Uganda Kob, giant forest hog, bushbaby, and numerous antelopes.

Uganda is a bird lover’s paradise.  Over 1,000 species of birds exist in Uganda.  This figure represents more than half the bird species that can be found in the whole of Africa and over 10% of those recorded throughout the entire world.  Some of the species you will view include birds of water and land shore, birds of scrub and woodland, forest birds and birds of the open plain, the black bee-eater, 11 types of king fisher, flamingos, eagles and other raptors, and several species of falcons.
