BenefacTours (Volunteer while Adventuring) Safaris East Africa

Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kazinga Channel, Kyambura Gorge and chimpanzees

Safari includes meals, accommodations in lodges or camping (your choice), park entry fees, all activities listed, return ground transport, and services of driver/guide.  Not included are tips, souvenirs, all beverages and items of a personal nature.

Day 1
We set off to the west with a brief stop at the Equator for some photos. After passing into the Western Rift Valley we descend escarpment with wonderful views of Lakes George and Edward amid the game filled plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This park has Uganda's highest number of mammals.  After our first game drive, we end the day at Mweya Lodge for a drink while watching the sunset over Kazinga Channel, home to thousands of hippos and pelicans.

Day 2
We set off early in the morning  as we head towards the Ishasha region, famous for its tree climbing lions. Lunch is taken at one of the rest camps in the southern area of the park before another game drive.  We spend the evening watching hippos in a stream that runs close to the Congo.

Day 3
Another early start as we view Queen Elizabeth National Park's diverse ecosystem of savannah plains, tropical forests, rivers, swamps and volcanic craters. There are great opportunities to spot lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, Ugandan Kob, and waterbuck. There are also huge numbers of migratory birds in the area, all with the stunning Rwenzori Mountains as a backdrop. In the afternoon we will take a boat trip down the Kazinga Channel in order to spot the various animals as they come to drink at the water’s edge.

Day 4
Today we have an early morning departure to Kyambura Gorge. This is home to a variety of primates, including chimpanzees.  We get a chance to climb through tropical forest and see the primates in their natural habitat. After this we return to Kampala or Jinja, with a stop over at Mbarara for lunch. We arrive back in the early evening.
