African Guitar Summit
8:00 pm
@ Kay Meek Centre - 1700 Mathers Avenue, West Vancouver
Tickets: $36/$31/$26
African Guitar Summit started as a collaborative project to unite guitarists of African origins working in Canada. Conceptualized by CBC producer Todd Fraracci for the CBC Radio's On Stage program, the line-up reads like a who's who of Canadian-Afro talent including Theo Yaw Boakye, Pa Joe, Mighty Popo, Donné Roberts, Madagascar Slim, Professor Adam Solomon and Vancouverite Alpha YaYa Diallo. Their first self-titled recording went on to win the 2005 Juno Award for World Music Album of the Year. Their follow-up, African Guitar Summit II was nominated for the same award in 2007.
