Day 1
We leave early from Kampala or Jinja and drive eastward on the main Kenya highway to the border town of Busia. We will clear customs and immigration and then proceed to the town of Kisumu, right on the edge of Lake Victoria. Our camp for the night is close to a bloat of hippos that may come and graze around your tent.

Day 2
Today we will move into Lake Nakuru National Park, famed for flamingos and rhinos amongst a myriad of other game. We camp wild in the park beside a flowing waterfall, where buffalo often come to drink.

Day 3
After an early morning game drive, we leave the park and travel a short distance to the fever thorn tree ringed Lake Naivasha. Here you will see black and white Colobus monkeys barking in the trees. A short walk up the road will take you to afternoon tea at Elsamere, the museum home of Joy Adamson of Bornfree fame.

Day 4
We will spend another day at Lake Naivasha, where you might like to take an optional visit to Crescent Island or a boat out onto the lake. You can also rent bicycles and ride through Hells Gate National Park to view wild game and thermal activity or simply relax and soak up the atmosphere by the lake.

Day 5
Today we drive into Kenya’s capital city of Nairobi, to do a quick food shop, before heading toward the Tanzanian border and camping the night in the wild. Maasai warriors will keep us company and keep the lions away.

Day 6
We cross the border and travel down toward magnificent Mt Kilimanjaro, watching for giraffe on either side of the highway and Maasai warriors herding their animals.  We will stay the night at the Snake Park, where you can view a wonderful collection of serpents, terrapins and crocodiles.

Day 7
Perhaps an optional camel ride with Maasai up to one of their villages first thing in the morning appeals to you, or just some leisurely rest and relaxation time. This afternoon we will drive to the town of Karatu and stay at Kudu camp, on the slopes of Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 8
We leave very early and move into the cloud forests lining the edge of Ngorongoro Crater. Today we drive down into the crater and game drive in this garden of Eden. We camp the night perched on the edge of the crater with its magnificent views.

Day 9
We enter the world famous Serengeti National Park. Along the way you can expect to see all kinds of game, perhaps even some of the migration, before we reach the campsite at Seronera for the night. During the night, lions and hyenas often frequent the grounds, baboons and elephants strolling within easy camera-shot. You can feel the thrill of being in wild, wild Africa.

Day 10
First thing in the morning we will be game driving around the magnificent park, with zebra, wildebeest and impala all very close. If we are very lucky a pride of lions or a solitary leopard will put in an appearance. There is plenty of game to be seen on the vast savannah lands and as we head back toward the Ngorongoro Crater area, we will begin to pass Maasai Villages and noble warriors. We will stop and meet some of these interesting people before arriving back into Karatu for the evening.

Day 11
Today we will drop further down the edge of the crater and get a bird’s eye view of Lake Manyara before we drive through Arusha town and then on to Moshi, nestled at the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro. We will spend the night on the slopes of the mountain, where we will hopefully get a good glimpse of her snow capped peaks.

Day 12
We proceed down the edge of the Great Rift Valley and then climb it to Lushoto, a high look out point where we will camp on the edge and get a magnificent view.

Day 13
Moving down the jagged escarpment, we make our way toward the coast and Dar Es Salaam. Known as the ‘haven of peace’, we will spend the night right on the beach, in tropical warmth and salty air.

Day 14
Seafood, beach life, tropical fruits, sand, sun and fun awaits you in Dar Es Salaam. You may wish to go to the famous spice island of Zanzibar from here, or simply stay in Dar Es Salaam itself, enjoying the blend of Arab-African hospitality to be found everywhere.  We will have our farewell dinner tonight, as this is the end of your East African Safari.
