BenefacTours (Volunteer while Adventuring) Safaris East Africa

Nairobi, Aberdare, Lake Nakuru, Maasai Mara – Search for the spectacular Big Five on this Kenyan safari adventure.  Feel the cool mountain air while you inspect the unusual flora and fauna of the forests of Aberdare and the searing heat of the savannah while seeking out prides of their famous lions in the Maasai Mara.

Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi
You will be met at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transferred to The Holiday Inn for overnight rest and relaxation.

Day 2 Aberdare
After breakfast at your hotel, leave Nairobi for Aberdare National Park. The high altitude makes the park different from the typical savannah of most Kenyan parks and creates a cool alternative to the traveller.  Lunch is served at Aberdare Country Club in Nyeri upon arrival. A separate vehicle will then transfer you to the famous Ark Tree Hotel for dinner and overnight. Marvel at the richness of the forest's wildlife; elephant, rhino, warthogs, bushbuck, waterbuck, buffalo and the giant forest hog are all to be discovered.  You will delight in spying on the nocturnal visitors to the lodge's water hole during a whole night of game viewing.

Day 3 Lake Nakuru
Depart for Lake Nakuru National Park after breakfast. Lake Nakuru is a soda lake on the basin of the Rift Valley. The main attraction to this national park is the large concentration of flamingos that flock seasonally to feed on the blue-green algae.  Lunch is served at Lion Hill Lodge upon arrival, after which you will explore the park on your afternoon game drive, spotting some resident rhinos or searching for elusive leopards. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 Maasai Mara
Leave Nakuru for drive to Maasai Mara, the perfect wildlife sanctuary.  Lunch is served upon your arrival at Mara Simba Lodge. The greatest animal spectacle in the world - The Great Migration, occurs here every year.  Besides the numerous zebras and wildebeests, the park hosts rhino, giraffe, topi, elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, jackals, hyena, hippo and much more.  This park, which is an extension of Tanzania's Serengeti, has more wildlife than anywhere in East Africa.  The Maasai tribe, who live and graze their herds on the outskirts of the park, enjoy a peaceful co-existence with the wildlife.  Enjoy a 2 hr game drive in the Mara and then back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Maasai Mara
An early wake up call and a quick cup of tea or coffee before your morning game drive begins.  Survey the vastness of the plain as you look out for your favourite wildlife beginning their day in the Mara, marvel at the abundance of antelope species, catch a glimpse of big cats hunting. Return to the lodge where breakfast awaits.  Laze by the pool, have lunch or visit the gift shop before your afternoon game drive where it is possible to observe the big five, lions, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo, in action.  Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 Depart
Leave Maasai Mara after breakfast for your return to Nairobi, where you will be driven to the airport to catch your flight out of Kenya.

Includes meals as indicated, accommodations, park entry fees, airport transfers, all activities listed, return ground transport, and services of a driver/guide.  Not included are tips, souvenirs, all beverages and items of a personal nature.
