BenefacTours (Volunteer while Adventuring) Safaris East Africa
8 Day Odyssey

Nairobi, Aberdare, Samburu, Nakuru, Maasai Mara - Your holiday in Kenya allows you to experience East Africa's premier travel destination from forests and lakes to the wild African savannah. Witness the spectacular wildlife displays of the Great Migration in the Maasai Mara and other national parks and reserves.

Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi
You will be met at the airport and transferred to The Holiday Inn Nairobi for overnight stay.

Day 2 Aberdare
After breakfast at your hotel, leave Nairobi for Aberdare National Park. The high altitude makes the park different from the typical savannah of most Kenyan parks and creates a cool alternative to the traveller.  The forest is rich in wildlife; elephant, rhino, warthogs, bushbuck, waterbuck, buffalo and the giant forest hog are all to be seen.  Lunch is served at Aberdare Country Club in Nyeri upon arrival. A separate vehicle will then transfer you to The Ark Tree Hotel for dinner, a whole night of game viewing and overnight stay.

Day 3 Samburu
After breakfast, you will be taken back to Aberdare Country Club and proceed to Samburu National Reserve.  Lunch will be served upon arrival at Samburu Serena Lodge. Samburu lies in a vast area of semi-desert and desert.  We will enjoy lunch at the lodge and then leave for a game drive seeking the most unusual fauna of all East Africa’s major savannah reserves, including Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk giraffe and Reticulated giraffe.  Dinner and overnight will be spent at the lodge.

Day 4 Samburu
Tea is served before your early  morning game drive. Back to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation.  Lunch is served and then you will depart for your afternoon game drive. The game park's permanent water supply attracts a wide variety of species. Crocodiles are a common site along the rivers, and this park is where you are more likely to see a leopard than anywhere else in Kenya. The park offers excellent bird-watching opportunities for the bird lover. Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Lake Nakuru
An early wake up call will be followed by tea or coffee before a game drive.  We will return to the lodge where breakfast awaits.  We will then depart for Lake Nakuru and the Lion Hill Lodge. Lake Nakuru is a soda lake on the basin of the Rift Valley. The main attraction to this national park is the large concentration of nearly two million flamingos that flock seasonally to feed on the blue-green algae.  You may spot resident rhinos as you enjoy your afternoon game drive.  Drive back to Lion Hill Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 Maasai Mara
Leave Nakuru for the drive to Maasai Mara, the perfect wildlife sanctuary.  Lunch is served upon your arrival at Sarova Mara Lodge. The greatest animal spectacle in the world - The Great Migration, occurs here every year.  Besides the numerous zebras and wildebeests, the park hosts rhino, giraffe, topi, elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, jackals, hyena, hippo and much more.  This park, which is an extension of Tanzania's Serengeti, has more wildlife than anywhere in East Africa.  The Maasai, who live and graze their herds on the outskirts of the park, enjoy a peaceful co-existence with the wildlife.  Enjoy a 2 hr game drive in the Mara and then back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 Maasai Mara
An early wake up call will be followed by a cup of tea or coffee before a game drive.  Then, back to the lodge where breakfast awaits.  You will then have some free time to laze by the pool, have lunch or visit the gift shop before your afternoon game drive. Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
