Safari 1. Gorilla Tracking, Queen Elizabeth National Park, chimpanzee trek in Kyambura Gorge
Day 1 Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
This morning we have an early departure for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, 9-10 hrs drive. We drive south west where winding roads lead through tiered agricultural lands taking up high into the mountain gorillas’ habitat. We spend the night on the misty mountains in anticipation of our tracking adventure.
Day 2 Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Rise with the sun for breakfast, followed by a meeting with a ranger guide before setting off into the gorilla sanctuary. The rain forest offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, criss-crossed by numerous animal trails. Your trek’s time and terrain vary according to the movements of the marvelous mountain gorillas. Tracking these gentle giants is rated as one of Africa's best wildlife watching opportunities. Other mammals may include the rare golden monkey, buffalo, elephant, black-fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, and giant forest hog. By the time you return to camp your memories will be embedded in your mind forever.
Day 3 Queen Elizabeth National Park
We start the day driving north through volcanic formations of the Western Rift Valley towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. The descent reveals a stunning panorama of Lakes George and into Lake Edward amidst game-filled plains. The afternoon game drive in this park, with the massive Rwenzoris as a backdrop, provides excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, de fassa waterbuck, Uganda kob, topi and bushbuck.
Day 4 Queen Elizabeth National Park This morning, watch the sun rise as you view game in the wilderness of Queen Elizabeth Park. In the afternoon, we take the boat launch for a 2 hour cruise on the Kazinga Channel where hippos, crocodiles, elephants and buffalo will be in great abundance either at the waters edge, or along side your boat! This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colourful and stupendous with well over 550 resident species.
Day 5 Chimp tracking, departure After breakfast we head off for a guided trek through Kyambura Gorge in search of man’s closest relative, the chimpanzee. The sounds of the chimps carry through the forest very clearly, so approaching and watching these creatures in their natural habitat is a fantastic wildlife viewing experience. Drive onwards to Kampala, arriving early evening.

Safari 2. Lake Mburo, Mountain Gorilla tracking, Queen Elizabeth National Park
Day 1 Lake Mburo Depart early for drive to Lake Mburo. Lying in the one part of Uganda covered in extensive acacia woodland, Mburo has markedly different fauna to other parks and reserves. Zebra, buffalo, Ugandan Kob and plenty of other species abound in this beautiful park; this is the best place in the country to see the eland antelope. During the afternoon we take a boat trip to a fishing village, followed by evening game drive. The five lakes within the park attract hippos, crocodiles and a variety of waterbirds, while fringing swamps house the sitatunga antelope and the papyrus gonelek. Mburo is the closest national park to Kampala and offers a refreshing stopover when travelling to or from the western parks and reserves.
Day 2 Walking safari, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest This morning we are going to take a walking safari, complete with a ranger, to get close to the many animals that roam within the park. On route to Bwindi, we drive through savannah grasslands and banana plantations, ascending into the Kigezi Highlands, known as the 'Switzerland of Africa'. Twisted and winding roads alongside terraced farms in stunning mountain scenery will keep us entertained on route to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Drive time is 6 – 7 hours. We spend the night on the misty mountains in anticipation of our gorilla tracking adventure.
