Stone Town tour, Prison Island, Maruhubi Palace, Mangapwani village
Includes meals as indicated, accommodations, airport transfers, all activities listed, return ground transport, and services of driver/guide. Not included are tips, souvenirs, all beverages and items of a personal nature.
Day 1
On arrival at the airport or harbour, you will be met and transferred to your Stone Town hotel, The Zanzibar Serena Inn. Overnight at the hotel on Bed & Breakfast basis.
Day 2
After breakfast depart for a guided tour of Stone Town covering the Kelele square, Tip Tip House, former slave market site, Livingstone House, the old dhow harbor and the Old Arab Fort. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Mid afternoon we will take a boat trip to Prison Island, the former prison for slaves and quarantine station for Zanzibar, is an absolute worthwhile visit. Here you will also experience giant tortoises in the wild. Return to the hotel for overnight.
Day 3
After breakfast, transfer to Mangapwani village via Maruhubi Palace ruins. Visit of the slave caves and chambers. Lunch at Mangapwani Serena Restaurant. The restaurant is located on the outskirts of Zanzibar stone town. The Serena Mangapwani Restaurant and Watersports Centre is a great destination for those looking for somewhere special. Visitors to Mangapwani are offered a fresh seafood barbeque cooked to perfection by Serena’s expert team of chefs. The atmosphere is informal and friendly and the restaurant comprises a series of traditional makuti bandas, all set into a lush hillside overlooking an idyllic beach. Guests can also enjoy fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, catamaran rides and other pleasant distractions at the well-equipped watersports centre. Late in the afternoon, drive back to stone town. Overnight at the hotel in Stone town.
Day 4
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
