BenefacTours (Volunteer while Adventuring) Safaris East Africa
Murchison Falls

Murchison Falls National Park game drives and boat safari, rhino sanctuary, and chimpanzee tracking.  Experience the majesty of the Nile while on your boat safari, viewing abundant wildlife along the banks. Spot Cape buffalo, elephant, Rothchild's giraffe, Uganda kob, hartebeest, waterbuck and more on game drives. Take a walk with a ranger to get up close to rhinos and trek through chimp habitat for a chance encounter with our closest cousins.

Itinerary

Day 1 Rhino Sanctuary
Begin the panoramic drive north-west through Masindi Town, with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary on route to Murchison Falls National Park.  A picnic lunch at the top of the falls lets you view the awesome site of the whole river getting compressed through a 6 metre gap. Enjoy the sunset as we then make our way to our accommodation.

Day 2 Game drive and boat safari
We rise with the sun for our early game drive. Here we hope to find lions, leopard, elephants, buffalo, giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyena and many more of Africa’s big game. After lunch, we take a boat safari upstream to the base of the falls, stopping just tens of metres from the "Devil's Cauldron".  En-route, marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and possibly elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob. This is also home to many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork.

Day 3 Chimp tracking
After breakfast we head off for a guided trek through Kaniyo Pabidi in Budongo Forest in search of man’s closest relative, the chimpanzee. Success rate of seeing them is 90% from May to September. Giant mahogany trees house Budongo’s 800 chimps, the largest population in the country. The forest is also home to black and white colobus, red-tailed monkey, blue monkey, and elephant-shrew, not to mention 465 plant, 366 bird and 250 butterfly species. Continue with our drive back to Kampala for early evening arrival.
